So, really, what does the PTA do?
By joining the Flocktown Kossmann PTA, you become a member of the national PTA organization. The PTA is the largest volunteer child advocacy association in the nation. The national PTA goal is:
To make every child’s potential a reality by engaging and empowering families and communities to advocate for all children.
The FK PTA hopes to promote quality education, participation in the arts, and community involvement. Most importantly, we plan to work with the school and families to create a healthy and enriching environment in which our children will learn and grow.
With the help of volunteers, the FK PTA sponsors and runs events the following types of activities:
Children’s Programs – Several times throughout the year, the children have entertaining, educational school wide assemblies that aim to enrich their education and growth. This year the FK PTA will spend about $15,000 on Children’s Programs. If your child comes home talking about a magician, a play, or a band at school, it was most likely a PTA sponsored Children’s Program.
Family Programs – Each month the PTA hosts events for the entire family. Some of these events are free to all Flocktown Kossmann families and some require a nominal fee to cover the cost of the event. These events are NOT fundraisers. This year we are joining with the school to host Welcome Back to the Pack on September 16th. We also have movie and craft nights, book clubs, and author visits; in addition to, our annual Trick or Trunk and Spring Event.
Services – The PTA offers services such as the Children’s Holiday Shop, the Flocktown School Store, and the Yearbook. The children enjoy these events and we are happy to be able to organize and run the events for the children. These events are not intended to be fundraisers, but rather the PTA hopes to break even.
Fundraisers - Everyone knows about fundraising, but we’d like to emphasize that fundraising, along with our volunteers, makes everything else possible. Some fundraising this year includes spirit wear with the new Flocktown Kossmann wolf logo, our annual Comedy Night in March, Entertainment Books, and monthly Market Day. |
